Still struggling on nature of faith.

Ephesians 2:8.

So I've grown up with the translation that grace alone is the gift of God. I've long since lost the reference to the Greek grammar rule which defended that translation and I'm reexamining it.

If faith really is the gift of God in Eph 2:8, then how? Is it the ability to have faith which is the gift of God? Or does it seem to lean towards monergism in that the reason that some have faith and some do not is because God is the one who gives faith?

In 1974 Steve Adams was Minister of Music at the Xenia, Ohio, Church of the Nazarene. One day in April he was driving through town when he saw a funnel cloud headed straight toward him. He knew he could not outrun or outmaneuver the tornado, so he stopped his car and ran into a furniture store.

My review history (here in Kenosha):

I moved to Kenosha in 2000.
We organized in 2003. At that point the DS "started my review clock."
2005 I had a two-year review.
2009 I had a four-year review.
THIS AFTERNOON I had another four-year review.
